Dr. Tamer Orief is a Consultant Neurosurgeon sub-specialized in Spine surgery, with more than 20 years of experience in treating various spinal conditions. He received his bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBCh) from Alexandria University, Egypt in 1997 and subsequently completed his residency training and obtained his master’s degree (MSc) in 2003. Thereafter, he earned his Doctorate in Neurosurgery (PhD) with a specialization in spinal surgery in 2007.

Dr. Orief undertook an international fellowship in minimally invasive spine surgery at one of the top training programs in Japan, at Aichi Medical University School of Medicine in 2008.

Dr. Orief practiced as a Consultant Neurosurgeon and Spine Surgeon at different tertiary care hospitals in Saudi Arabia between 2009 and 2016, he was appointed Head of Neurosurgery Department at Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Hospital (PMAH) in Riyadh from 2013 to 2016. Dr. Orief moved to The United Arab Emirates to work as a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital (SKSH) from 2016 to 2022.

Dr. Orief is widely published in highly recognized international scientific journals and has written book chapters in one of the best selling neurosurgery textbooks (Neurosurgery Tricks of the Trade, Spine and Peripheral Nerves). He frequently presents as a speaker and workshop instructor at many international and regional meetings and he serves as a reviewer for many international spine surgery journals.

Dr. Orief is a member of many of the world’s leading neurosurgery and spine surgery societies such as the North American Spine Society (NASS), American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), AO Spine Society, Japan Neurosurgical Society (JNS) and many other regional societies.
